Create an Investment Memo from a Voice Note
Record your thoughts to a voice note and have a beautifully written deal memo written from the Graph Advisors free system below
By the end of this tutorial you will be able to record a voice note → investment memo in seconds.
The steps are simple:
Record a voice note to iOS
Send it to be processed within OpenAI
Write it in Notion (or wherever you need)
This all happens through a simple automation system inside of Pipedream. This entire process should take 10-15 minutes and you should be ready to record in no time.
Firms want to be spending time with founders, and this allows them to take a meeting then record their thoughts and have them turned into a memo.

Background
This is a guide that will result in the ability to create a voice note while on the go and automatically create a investment memo using AI.
What Do I need to get started?
1. A Google account + Google Drive access
2. A Pipedream account (steps are given below)
3. A Notion account
Do I need any paid accounts?
You need about $5-10 worth Open AI API credits. (Instructions below)
All other accounts are free.
How much time does it take?
It will take around 10-15 minutes to set this up to start using it right away.

Step 1: Copy this automation to your Pipedream account.
Click on the Pipedream, workflow link below to instantly duplicate a pre-made workflow to your Pipedream account.
If you don't have an account yet, you'll be prompted to create one. Pipedream's free tier is all you need for this workflow, so no upgrades are necessary!
Step 2: Next, click Create Project and Continue
Step 3: Click Create Workflow
Step 4: Connect your Google account.
4.1 Connect your google drive account first
4.2 Choose the Folder option from Optional Fields, and choose a folder where you will upload your audio files to create investment memos
See the two arrows for each of 4.1 and 4.2 in the below screenshot.
4.3 Now upload an audio file from your phone to this google drive folder. Steps below for a refresher.
4.4 Click on create source
4.5 If the file has been uploaded, the Pipedream interface will show that a new file has been uploaded. A yellow 1 new event will pop as you can see below.
4.6 Clicking on the event, select the new file that has been uploaded to set up the trigger for this automation
4.7 Once the test is complete you should see a green “Success” message
4.8 Press “Continue” to move to step 5
Step 5: download your voice note to Pipedream storage
5.1 This is an automatic step. Select your google drive account and simply press Test.
5.2 Once the test is complete you should see a green “Success” message
5.3 Press “Continue” to move to step 6
Step 6: Connect ChatGPT using your API key to transcribe your voice note
6.1 Click on Connect an OpenAI (ChatGPT) account
6.2 How to find your Open AI API key? Link here
6.3 Add the key to connect to your OpenAI account.
6.4 After adding the OpenAI key you will see the screen below. Simply press Test
6.5 You should see a green “Success” message. It’s time to move to step 7
Step 7: Re-link ChatGPT credentials to write the investment memo using a prompt
7.1 Click on the first red arrow in the below screenshot and reconnect the OpenAI account using the saved credentials from Step 6
7.2 In the System Instructions (second red arrow), you can observe the below prompt pre-filled. Feel free to amend it based on your personal/organisational requirements.
Guidelines:
* Use bullet points instead of full sentences.
* Avoid repeating bullets across sections.
* Arrange points under the specified subheadings; if a point doesn't fit, omit the subheading.
* Include all necessary information in the appropriate section.
* Keep it concise and avoid repetitive use of the company name.
* Be succinct.
Now, convert the transcript into bullet points for the investment memo under the following categories:

Background:
Team:
Product:
Value Proposition:
Competitors:
Business Model:
Revenue:
Go-To-Market Strategy:
Total addressable market:
Funding status:
7.3 Next Press the Blue Test button
7.4 You should then see a Blue “Continue” button to move to step 8
Step 8: edit the file to remove the file extension to record in Notion
8.1 Nothing to be done here. Just hit test to move to the next step
8.2 Next Press the Blue Test button
8.3 You should see a green “Success” message - simply hit Continue to go to step 9
Step 9: create a notion page to record investment memos
9.1 Duplicate this pre created notion template into your workspace to record your investment notes. Click on the top right to duplicate.
9.2 Duplicate “without content”
Step 10: connect the newly created notion page to your Pipedream account
10.1 Connect your notion account (first red arrow)
10.2 Choose the Notion page in the subsequent step to allow access to the Page where the Notion template created in Step 9 is located
10.3. Click on the Database ID field and select Enter a Custom Expression
10.4 Add the database ID for the notion template you just duplicated.
10.5 How to find the database ID?
10.5.1 Head to the template that you duplicated in Step 9 in your notion account.
10.5.2 Copy the database URL. To find the database URL: head to share on the top right and click on `copy link`
10.5.3 Paste this link on a notepad.
The ID is the string of characters in the URL that is between the slash following the workspace name (if applicable) and the question mark.
10.6 You should now see a green message that says “Success”
10.7 Next press the blue Continue button.
Step 11: add the AI augmented investment memo to this new notion page
11.1 Connect your existing notion account (first red arrow)
11.2 Add the parent database ID from Step 10 (second red arrow)
11.3 Select Property Types as company name and tags
11.4 Next Press the Blue Test button
11.5 You should see a green “Success” message
11.6 Click on Deploy to set up the final automation in place
Step 12: going forward
12.1 This automation has been set up for any voice notes that you add to the google drive folder.
12.2 Whenever any voice note is uploaded to your selected google drive folder, this entire automation will run and you will see a new investment memo in Notion.
